Description
Mary The Mother of Jesus : This book is constantly attentive to the links between Mary, the Mother, and Jesus, her son, in the context of the New Testament. The result is to discover a Mother vested with the splendor of the Son, and a Son looked at with the eyes, heart and intelligence of the Mother. In the most natural way, Mariology becomes Christology.
There is a second aspect when we consider Mary in the light of the New Testament: it is her links with people. It is Mary in the Church, Mary in the upper room with the first group of those believing in Jesus, it is the last picture of Mary in Luke. And the same situation is found in John: “From that hour the disciple took her in his home,” in his community, an eschatological presence. Mariology fuses itself into Ecclesiology.
This reflection on Mary is also a constant Christian anthropology: “What is a human being, O Lord, that you care for him?” “What is this human being able to dialogue with you, to collaborate with you, to make with you new heavens and earth?” “With glory and honor you have crowned him” (Ps.8:5). With Mary we discover how much we are loved and honored, but also how much we are able to love and to suffer for the One we love, Jesus our Lord!
Such a faith is certainly an ecumenical faith; it is the respect that all the churches express for the Mother of Jesus! May each Christian emulate Mary in welcoming Jesus, and our brothers and sisters in the world of today.
